Itinerary Overview
Day 1:Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport to Transfer to Mkomazi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in the morning. Meet and greet by your safari guide,
then enjoy a scenic drive to Mkomazi Wilderness Lodge. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon of leisure — relax,
explore the surroundings, or enjoy a sundowner overlooking the wilderness.
Day 2:Full-Day Game Drive in Mkomazi National Park
After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive in Mkomazi National Park, one of Tanzania’s most unique and lesser-known conservation areas. The park is home to a thriving population of endangered black rhinos and African wild dogs, both protected within the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary.
Explore the park’s vast savannahs and acacia woodlands, where you may also encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, oryx, eland, hartebeest, gerenuks, and over 450 bird species, including ostriches and Kori bustards. Enjoy your packed lunch in the heart of the park and continue exploring until evening. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3:Mkomazi – Kilimanjaro / Departure
After breakfast, check out and begin your drive back toward Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). The journey takes you through the picturesque Pare Mountains and open plains, with distant views of Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days.
